As the summer season winds down and we start edging towards fall, we begin to transition our wardrobes and accessories into mid-season solutions. One of the most essential items one can own is a silk scarf. It lends itself to so many uses and can be worn year-round if you get creative (plus, it’s a bad-hair-day fix in 30 seconds flat!). I’ve put together a list of ways to wear a scarf through the seasons to get maximum styling potential out of this versatile piece. Let me know which one’s your favorite!
Creative Ways to Wear a Scarf
Tied around the neck – To add some visual interest on a windier day, try tying a scarf loosely around your neck. This adds color and pattern to an otherwise simple ensemble.
As a hair accessory – Few things are as classic as a scarf in your hair. Choose a bright color or bold pattern to liven up a simple outfit.
– Front Knot: If you’re having a bad hair day, scoop it up in a front-knot style.
– Headband: Or use it as a headband by folding and tying with a knot at the base of your neck.
As a handbag accessory – To completely change the look of your favorite bag, add a colorful scarf corresponding to the season.
– Around the handle: Try wrapping the handle of by making a knot at one end and going around tightly until reaching the other.
– Tied on the handle: You can also tie a loose bow on one end of the handle and fluff it for a casual, chic approach.
Around the waist – Instead of a belt, try wearing a scarf on your hips for a feminine, pulled-together look.
– As a Belt: Wrap the scarf around your waist and tie in the front for an ornate take on the classic.
– Belted Scarf: Or for a more structured look, tie a belt on the long ends of your scarf.
