We do such a good job of protecting our skin in the winter from harsh wind and freezing temps that sometimes, it’s tempting to let our soft skin routine fall to the wayside come summer! Dry skin still occurs during the warmer months, especially after laying out in the sun or constantly transitioning from the hot outdoors to an air conditioned office. Keeping up your dry skin treatments in the summer (in a lighter capacity, of course) will prevent your skin from over-producing oil, which can be a big problem for many and cause breakouts! Here are six steps for getting baby soft skin all summer long. xo
6 Steps to Baby Soft Skin This Summer
- Use a soap-free body wash to avoid drying out the skin
- Exfoliate more often – at least once a week
- Pat dry after your shower (this goes for hair, too! no rubbing or scrubbing)
- Apply a light lotion immediately after patting dry. This locks in the moisture
- Use a heavier moisturizer or oil like sesame or coconut only on super-dry patches or rough areas like knees and elbows
- My secret weapon: wear socks to bed after applying extra moisturizer for beautiful, sandal-ready feet in the morning
