Early Bird Gets the Worm

The early bird catches the worm.” />

If we could only buy more time, right? And although we can’t
pay for a few more hours, there is one little trick I like to use that does get
me more time every day. Waking up a little earlier than most.

I know this sound like a genius idea, but you’d be surprise
how much more you can get done by waking up an hour or two early. Why so? Think
about it: you probably don’t wake up an earlier than you already do because you
go to bed really late. If you go to bed really late ask yourself what you’re
doing with that time? Are you watching TV, wasting time on the computer, or are
you actually being productive? If you’re not being productive, how about you
turn than TV off just an hour and a half earlier, and instead use that time in
the morning?

Why am I stressing extra time in the morning? Simple. It’s
quiet. How many times do you find yourself trying to work on a project during
the day only to get interrupted by emails, phone calls, and people who need
something from you? But if you wake up at 6:30 a.m. no one will bother you
until about 9 a.m. (give or take). That’s two and half uninterrupted hours
where you can get those projects you’ve been procrastinating done. Doesn’t
sound lovely? And when you try this experiment of waking up a few hours
earlier, I would suggest not reading your email yet (unless answering back
emails is one of the tasks you find getting done during the day). Really take
that time for the projects or assignments that can benefit from a few focused
hours.

In addition to getting those uninterrupted hours, you’ll be
ahead of everyone else. The feeling of needing to constantly catch up is
relieved. And you’ll find yourself feeling less stressed and pressured. It’s
that’s just a better way to work—and live!

xoxo,

Loren
