Why she’s will be the next great U.S women’s swimmer: She’s the Michael Phelps of women’s swimming, 6’1, has a 6’4 wingspan and size 13 feet. She set the world record for 200-meter back stroke in 2011.
2. Jordyn Wieber, Gymnastics
Age: 16
Why you should watch: The world all-around champion looks to lead the U.S women’s team to its first gold since 1996. Jordyn has won 13 gold medals in various national and international competitions.
3. Allyson Felix, Track and field
Age: 26
She’s headed for gold: The two-time silver medalist in the 200 meter is primed to win her first individual gold medal in London. She ran the 200 in 21.69 seconds, the fastest women since Marion Jones in 1998.
4. Kerri Walsh, Volleyball
Age: 33
Why you should watch: The two-time gold medalist seeks a first ever beach volleyball three-peat. Walsh and her teammate, Misty May-Treanor have taken the US volleyball team to gold twice, both in Athens and Beijing.
5. Serena Williams
Age: 30
Third time’s the charm: Put Serena Williams on the court and you get nothing but excitement. The Williams sisters won gold in both 2004 and 2008, why would you be surprised if they put a third gold away.
