I was glued to my seat as I watched the “Fab 5” gracefully dominate the women’s Olympic gymnastics all-around competition against the Russians and Romanians last night. United together as a team, the women’s US gymnastic team has not won the Olympic gold medal since the “Magnificent 7” of 1996. As spectators cheered USA! USA! I can only imagine what goes through the mind of these inspiring young women before they finish their last run. The adrenaline was not only felt in the eyes of the gymnasts or coaches, but in the expression of their mother’s anxiously waiting for their daughters to complete each routine in succession before screaming to the top of their lungs!
The US women’s gymnastics team both fierce and fabulous dominated the sport at the Olympics and in our hearts. With Jordyn Wieber’s disappointing disqualification days before and the pressure to bring home the gold, the fab 5 shows us that anything you put your mind to is possible no matter the age or the obstacles you face!
