At this time of the year, you’ve probably already thought about trying some sort of detox. From celebs to your co-worker, everyone seems to have tried one kind of detox program. But do you really know what it is? Is it really worth it?
It’s important to do your research first. After all, fasting and extreme detoxing aren’t really effective for pound-shedding—and it can even be dangerous. If you’re looking to drop some pounds, you’ll need to make a lifestyle change and not just starve yourself for a few days. A healthy and conscious detox is really used to get those toxins out of our body and give our digestive system a rest from all the hard work it goes through to digest all the foods we put in it.
With that said, here’s a great article in the Huffington Post written by Judith J. Wurtman, PhD, co-author of “The Serotonin Power Diet, Eat Carbs, Nature’s Own Appetite Suppressant, to Stop Emotional Overeating.”
In her article, she explores the idea of detoxing for weight loss and explains the best way to do so.
