This season makeup artists are playing with soft and rich tones, creating one focal point. From lilac jewel tone shadows as seen at Jill Stuart runway show to deep rich mulberry lips seen at Gucci, makeup artists are working with color lids, deep rich lips and neutral tones. Fall is all about the statement focal point, dramatic, rich and sleek. Here are 5 makeup tips from professionals you have to try this season!
Top 5 Professional Makeup Tips for Fall 2012
- One of my favorite makeup trends for fall are the rich red lips, my daughter Amber recently tried it for a black tie event and she looked stunning. My makeup artist Claudia Betancur, who also happens to be my daughter’s makeup artist suggests to keep the makeup natural if going with a deep rich red lip. “When working with deep rich red tones, it is important to make the lip the focal point, if you’re looking to add color to your shadow, add jewel tone shades that will not overpower the lips.”
- The brown smoky eye is also a big trend for fall, although subtle it makes an impact. Makeup artists at Burberry traded in their black pencils for soft brown shades and taupe. By tracking the inner lash lines and using rich espresso brown pencil and using a copper jewel tone shade in the crease for a more impactful effect.
- Celebrity makeup artist Aileen Quintana says perhaps the biggest trend for fall/winter is the winged eyeliner. Seen in almost every runway show, the winged eyeliner in exaggerated shapes and dramatic swoops are one of her favorite makeup looks for fall. For best result she suggests using powder or highlighter prior to adding your liquid gel liner using it as an outline and also will help last longer. If you’re creating a less intense look, stroke only one black line to the lid and keeping the swoop very short.
- Makeup artists at Marchesa used gold on the eyes and cheeks for a more subtle bronzed effect. By adding a dab of gold dust on the cheekbone it will give the face a candlelit effect and illuminate the eyes.
- Flushed cheeks dominated the runways at Yves Saint Laurent and Michael Kors, the illusion of healthy rosy cheeks is so sexy. Keeping the rest of your face dab a crème blush or rosy pink, I recommend Motives Crème Blush in Bora Bora, this will allow for a natural glow and flushed cheeks as if you hit the slopes all day.
