Super cold air, wind and indoor heat can really do a number on your skin. As soon as winter starts to roll in, I feel the dryness settle in on my face and hands right away. Nipping it in the bud and adding moisture to your skincare for cold weather is an absolute must. Here are my cold weather skin care tips for the upcoming season of snow and wind.
5 Cold Weather Skincare Tips
- Reevaluate your skin care routines based on the season. As the seasons change, the needs of your skin will change too.
- Ramp up the moisture. When the cold weather sets in, it’s time to start thinking about body wash rather than harsh soap and warm showers instead of steamy hot. The hot water strips your skin of moisture in an instant.
- Find the right moisturizer. For winter skin, look for something thick that will really provide deep moisture and good coverage.
- Hydrate! I know I say this all the time, but in the dry winter air, hydration is more important than ever. Your skin is starving for it.
- Don’t forget the sunscreen. Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t feel the drying effects of sunburn. Keep sunscreen as an important part of your daily routine.
