MEXICAN STAR JENNI RIVERA DIES IN PLANE CRASH

Gone too soon! Regional Mexican singer and star of Mun2 reality TV show “I Love Jenni,” Jenni Rivera is feared dead from a small plane crash early this Sunday. The 43-year old singer was traveling along with her makeup artist, lawyer and publicist on a Lear Jet 25 headed to Toluca, near Mexico City.

Mexico’s ministry of transportation and communications department said in a statement the Learjet was carrying seven people, including Rivera, and was found in mountainous terrain in Nuevo Leon, just south of Monterrey where the singer had just given a concert.

“There is nothing recognizable, neither material nor human” in the wreckage found in the state of Nuevo Leon, Ruiz Esparza told the Televisa network. The impact was so powerful that the remains of the plane “are scattered over an area of 250 to 300 meters. It is almost unrecognizable.”

No cause was given for the plane’s crash, but its wreckage was found near the town of Iturbide in Mexico’s Sierra Madre Oriental, where the terrain is very rough. The planer number N345MC, took off from Monterrey at 3:30am local time and was reported missing about 10 minutes later. It was registered to Starwood Management of Las Vegas, according to FAA records. The plane build in 1969, the same year Rivera was born and had a registration though 2015.

Jenni Rivera has sold over 20 million records world wide, was the star of her own reality TV show, “I Love Jenni” and recently she closed a deal with ABC to executive produce and be the star of her comedy prime-time series to debut in Spring 2013. Jennifer was beloved on both sides of the border for songs such as, “De Contrabando” and “La Gran Senora.”

Her life a tumultuous including upbringing of early marriage and pregnancy, domestic abuse and divorce. Her songs were advocates for social responsibility and the support of single mothers who suffered domestic abuse. Rivera had five children and a grandchild. Celebrity magazines said she was seeking a divorce from her second husband, former Major League Baseball player Esteban Loaiza.
