Fueling Yourself With Food

For so many years, I focused on staying away from the “bad” foods.  The common offenders were fried chicken, French fries, and sweets of course.  My attention was on avoiding those foods and eating something “not fattening.”  But see, my diet plan was to focus on the negative. Fight against the bad foods!  But how can you fight the bad foods without thinking about them all day?

One day something clicked.  I did my research and spoke to a lot of experts and what I realized was that I shouldn’t be counting calories.  Instead, I should be focusing on the nutrients my body needs to function.  Ha, what a concept: Feed my body the good stuff for optimal performance.  What happened was I started thinking, “Did I get my leafy greens for the day?  Did I get plenty of raw, organic veggies and fruits?” And that thought process made all the difference.  I didn’t have time to think about not eating the bad food when I was doing was focusing on the good food.  It’s just like how in life you want to focus on the positive and not the negative.  It’s the same concept.

It’s not about being the skinniest; it’s about being the healthiest.  And once you adopt this positive lifestyle, all that will follow.  Dieting because you want to drop some pounds will only last you so long.  Adopting a healthy lifestyle and  attitude is what will get you that coveted figure and brilliance.

So, drop that 100-calories bag of chips because it fits into your counting-calories diet.  Instead, fuel your body with the stuff it needs daily.  Do your research and find out what is good for you.  What are the type of nutrients you need on a daily basis, and are you getting it?

We ask a lot of our bodies every day.  And then we dump stress and lack of sleep on top of it.  The least we can do is give it the best fuel to function.
