In Beyonce’s new HBO documentary Life is But a Dream, the singer reveals some pretty deep stuff. For the first time, Beyonce publicly talks about her experience with miscarriage. While Beyonce and husband Jay-Z are now proud parents of super-cute daughter Blue Ivy, pregnancy didn’t exactly come easy.
Beyonce Talks Miscarriage in New HBO Documentary
During the film, which debuts February 16th, the 31-year-old singer shares, “About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time [and] I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.”
Beyoncedoes not describe the miscarriage in detail, she reveals that they discovered something was wrong during a routine doctor’s appointment. It was very early on in the pregnancy. “I flew back to New York to get my checkup—and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.”
Beyonce shared that the experience was incredibly hard, saying, “I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I’ve ever written in my life. And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album. And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through.”
