People often ask me, why am I always so positive? The truth is you have to be an optimist in order to make things happen for yourself. I know sometimes we all have those days when we feel down, we are caught in a difficult situations that makes it stressful for us to be optimistic and it’s okay we’re allowed on bad day once in a while. We all deal with transformation differently, there is the worry about the ability to cope with life adjustments in which often makes us believe that you are “unlucky” and your attitude becomes pessimist.
Recognizing your pattern of beliefs is the first step to becoming a change optimist. Examine an adjustment you are currently experiencing, then write down your beliefs about this change. Perhaps you are experiencing a lot of work related revisions and your current beliefs are “I cannot tolerate one more change!” or “All these changes are exhausting.” or “These changes are stupid and I hate them.”
People have known that our thoughts have great influence on our level of happiness for quite a long time. Wise philosophers talked about this phenomenon hundreds of years ago. Remember that ” the mind is everything and what you think your become.”
Here are three simple steps to becoming an optimist:
1. Act as if all is OK. Stop acting like the worst is going to happen, instead program your head to believe it is going to happen. I know your pessimist might make it difficult at first, so I suggest you “pretend” to be a positive person. Become conscious of your thoughts and the words you say. As you continue to “act” positive, there is a good chance you will actually begin to feel positive.
2. Become a “positivity” magnet. Always hang around with positive people. Let go of those who are dragging you down. As they say birds of a feather do indeed flock together. There is nothing better that I love more than working with positive people who are go-getters. Be observant for these types of situations and either try to shift the focus or get the heck out of there.
3. Commit to being happy. Easier said than done, but it’s possible. A simple exercise that might help you change your mind. Program your head to think positive and be positive. Whenever you are in difficult situation say “I am a positive and happy person, I am content, I love my life.”
