Yesterday my dear friend Russell Simmons ,hip hop mogul & entrepreneur, hosted a rally at Times Square on Sunday, opposing planned hearing on homegrown terrorism. USAToday.com reported that there were around 300 people who participated in the rally, criticizing the congressional hearing on Muslim terrorism, saying it’s xenophobic.
Through out Sunday friends and celebrities were “tweeting out” #mar6 promoting love and compassion. Among the celebrities tweeting were friend Kim Kardashian, Entourage’s Adrienne Garnier, Justin Bieber, LaLa, Kelly Rowland, Buster Rhymes and many others. The rally spoke about singling out Muslims than extremists is unfair. Russell was joined by Iman Feisal Abdul Rauf, who led an effort to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site. The Iman spoke at the rally addressing the issue: “Our real enemy is not Islam or Muslims. The enemy extremism and radicalism and radical ideology.”
Among the famous faces present at the rally were actor Adrian Grenier of “Entourage” and senior journalist, Geraldo Rivera. The rally’s slogan was “Today, I am Muslim Too” using all social networks to promote the rally.
