It’s amazing that in the year 2013, with all the incredible and powerful women out there, stereotypes of women in the workplace run so deep. Stereotypes of Women at Work: 5 Myths, Debunked

  • Powerful women are lonely and single. Here’s the thing – your relationship status has nothing to do with your performance in the workplace, so why do we never hear this about men?
  • Women in business are weak. Being weak in a male dominated and tough business world isn’t even an option.
  • Successful women are cold as ice. I have known a lot of successful women and many of them are nurturing and compassionate.
  • Women are too emotional for high powered positions. We’ve seen women through history hold their own – and keep cool, calm heads.
  • Women can’t be a successful CEO and mom.

The bottom line is this: stereotypes of women persist at work and can easily cloud the true talents that women have to offer. Have you ever dealt with this type of roadblock in your career?
