How Do You See Yourself?

It’s time for a Monday mind exercise. Grab a piece of paper.
Draw two rectangles on each side of the paper, and imagine these are mirrors.
In the first mirror, draw yourself how you believe other people see you. In the
other mirror, draw how you see yourself. Next, write down five words that
describe you.

How do your mirrors look? Do they look the same or are they
totally off?

Some people will do this exercise and see themselves worst
than how others seem them, while others may seem themselves better. The point
is: there needs to be a balance. You can’t see yourself amazingly and know people
see you not-so-amazingly because you’ll never be open to receiving constructive
criticism that can better you. But you also don’t want to see yourself poorly
resulting in low self-esteem.

If your mirrors are off, ask yourself what you can learn
from this exercise. Do you need to build yourself up and feel better about
yourself? Do you need to let down your guard a little bit and be more flexible
when it comes to change? You’ll know the answer.

Now, how about those five words you used to describe
yourself? Were they nice words? Would you use those same five words to describe
someone you love? Pay attention to how you’re talking to yourself. Be kind,
compassionate and patient. That’s how you’d talk to someone you’d love. And you
can’t give out love if you don’t have any for yourself. Love yourself today.

xoxo,

Loren
