What if those hours spent doodling hearts with your initial and question mark inside eventually paid off?
You would be Valentina Ramos whose colorful paintings composed of her signature scribble—a combination of endless intricate dots and
swirls—has landed her recent gigs with Target and Urban Outfitters. The Venezuelan transplant describes her work as “original and uplifting” mainly because her vibrant drawings of whimsical animals (owls, cows, birds) with sayings like “something good his going to happen” always induces a smile.
Each piece begins as a sketch in Valentina’s notebook, which is then scanned to Adobe Illustrator where the colors are added. With the
success of her canvases, the local graphic designer has expanded into a home line (fabric, place mats and pillowcases) and iPhone cases with plans to release items like wallpaper and notebooks. Although her work is affordable, Valentina occasionally offers free digital downloads on her blog.
