Chlorophyll-Water

Have you heard about this new must have drink on the market? Chlorophyll water is made from (yup, you guessed it!), chlorophyll – the dark green pigment that gives plants and algae their bright green color. Here’s the scoop: according to advocates for this green drink, chlorophyll diluted with water gives you more energy. It increases the quantity and quality of red blood cells, which equals better oxygen efficiency and more energy. Chlorophyll also has a heap of health benefits such as powerful antioxidants, vitamin K and C, calcium, protein and has anti-inflammatory benefits. It has made claims to cure chronic bad breath and even promotes a healthy digestive tract. This does seem to be a wonder drink, doesn’t it?

Health expert, James Duigan whose clients include the likes of Elle Macpherson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, swears by chlorophyll water as a daily diet staple. In a recent interview he said, “We use chlorophyll drops in water to help keep people alkaline. Diets high in unhealthy food change the body’s pH balance, making it more acidic, which can lead to insomnia and weight gain. Alkaline substances are essential to re-balance. We’ve also found that reducing acidity reduces inflammation and generally makes people feel fresher and cleaner.”

Chlorophyll is found in leafy green veggies, so you could simply make an effort to add more to your diet or, you can make your own chlorophyll water by adding just a few drops of chlorophyll to a tall glass of water. The drops can be found at most health food shops.
