Salt is used in cooking all the time – it’s definitely a household staple. But, did you know salt can do so many more things than add flavor to food? - Toothpaste. Try a combo of baking soda and salt for a great organic toothpaste or gargle with a little salt water for a fresh mouth.
- An exfoliator – salt is a great natural exfoliator (think sea salt scrub!).
- Stain remover. Soak your stained shirt in cold saltwater to pull of stains like wine or blood.
- Storing cheese. Wrap your cheese in a saltwater soaked napkin to prevent mold (this is a time-tested technique used by cheese makers around the world).
- A deodorizer – have stinky feet? Use a little bit of salt to scrub off dead skin, you can even add some essential oils.
- As cleaner. Clean your kitchen counters and sink with a salt scrub – it’s great for getting rid of stains.
- Itch relief. Use a cloth soaked in saltwater to relieve the itch from bug bites.
