My team sat down with Cristina to ask her questions about her love for Motives and what influenced her to become a makeup artist! I’m excited to share this interview with you and will be sharing more weekly!
Motives Maven Spotlight: Interview with Cristina Whitehead
Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Cristina Morales Whitehead. I’m 27 years old and I have loved makeup from as far back as I can remember. When people ask “So when did you start doing makeup?” I say, “since I could walk!”
When did you know a career in beauty was for you? How did you get started?
I don’t do makeup full-time. Although, I would love to. I work for a group of radiologists and have been with them 8 years. Makeup is my passion and my creative outlet. I absolutely love it.
Do you have a specific area of expertise?
If I had to pick an area that I loved most, it would say it’s eyebrows. They frame the face and can completely change a look. I have gotten to know and work with some amazing brow companies too!
Where do you gather inspiration for new looks?
Inspiration for my looks comes from everywhere. From film, to the outdoors, to the runway. I love it all. I love colors and experimenting with new designs. I’m not shy, adding some lashes and glitter is right up my alley!
For our viewers at home, what is the one beauty tip that you could give that many of them may not know about?
One beauty tip for my viewers at home that they may not know already would be about setting spray. You can spray it before and after. I feel like doing both really makes the makeup stay in place all day.
How were you introduced to Motives?
I was introduced to Motives on Instagram. I saw so many amazing artists creating beautiful looks and just knew I had to try it. I contacted Motives and asked about working together. What’s the worst that could happen? My advice to my viewers and followers is definitely don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Stepping out like that has changed my life.
What three Motives Cosmetics items should no woman leave home without?
Three Motives items that no woman should leave home without would be some powder, a lipstick and hands down a lip shine.
If you could only have one Motives Cosmetics item, which one would you pick?
If I could only have one Motives Cosmetics item, I would pick the Beauty Weapon palette. It is such a versatile palette. Whether it’s summer or fall, day or night. You can create a look any occasion. It’s definitely my favorite.
Do you have a trademark look? We’d love to hear more about it!
If I had to name a trademark look for myself, I would say it would be glitter liner. I love glitter! Adding just tiny bit of glitter on top of your regular liner can take it from drab to fab in just a few seconds!
What are your favorite Fall/Winter 2013 beauty trends?
My favorite fall beauty trend right now is a plum almost berry stained lip. Motives lipstick in “Naughty” is my go to color right now. I absolutely love it!
