  • Just get started. Choose a shelf, drawer or a cupboard and go for it. Make a keep, toss and donate pile – it will feel so good you’ll want to keep going (I promise!).
  • As you move through your home or office ask yourself if you really need these items, how often you use them and if you know someone else who might get even more use from them.
  • Don’t worry about being perfect – you can go back again later.
  • As you part with different items, think about what they represent. Are you holding on to things from a past relationship or job? Do these items maintain a sense of stress for you?
  • Just go ahead and part with non-essentials. If you’re on the fence about some things – put them in a box and come back to them later.
  • Go through this same routine with your digital items – email, documents and photos stored on your computer – clean it up!

It only takes a bit of effort to get the ball rolling to remove clutter from your life – once you get started, you probably won’t be able to stop. Have you figured out how to declutter your life?
