We’ve all done it – a swipe of a friend’s new lip gloss, a quick application of mascara borrowed from your bestie, but should we? You can’t help but have it cross your mind – should I share makeup? While it’s probably more common than you’d ever expect, there are some rules for sharing makeup – and these rules are not meant to be broken!
Rules for Sharing Makeup – Should You?
- Lipstick, gloss and balm. This is not meant to shared, ever. Cold sore virus can spread easily and that’s something to keep to yourself.
- Mascara, eyeliner and shadows. Just like the lips, anything that touches the eyes is meant to be kept to yourself. Pink eye and other infections are highly contagious, so it’s best to avoid sharing eye makeup all together.
- Liquid foundation. Sure! Sharing a little bit of this isn’t going to hurt anyone or spread bacteria.
- Powder and blush. Go ahead and share this one, but use your own brush! (that’s where bacteria actually lives)
