Ok, with spring just around the corner (how fabulous is that!?!), it’s time to get moving and shake those winter blues.  For some of us, it’s easy to let the dark, cold winter months bring us down – and  falling into a bit of a slump just happens. With sunny skies and longer days on the horizon, it’s time to take a quick look at life and the habits that just may be the culprit of bringing you down.  Read on for a look at the little things we can change to turn our hearts, minds and attitudes to that little happy place we call spring.

6 Things That Might Make You Feel Depressed (And How to Fix It)

  1. Are you getting enough sleep? Daylight savings is the perfect time to get yourself back on a regular sleep schedule – go to bed early and wake up with the sun.
  2. No more excuses – it’s time to get some exercise. Even if it’s just a walk with the dog, exercise will make so many things better. (you’ll sleep more soundly and your whole body will thank you for it)
  3. Is your work making you feel directionless? This happens when our passions and our work don’t intersect. Have you thought about starting a blog? Think about spending some of your free time doing something you love, like volunteer work or a taking a creative class.
  4. Feeling isolated? Winter SAD will do that. Sometimes, you just don’t want to leave the house. Now’s the time to round up your girls and get out.
  5. Did your diet start to suffer with the cold winter months? No worries! It’s easy to get back on track – think fresh juices, smoothies and perhaps trying some of these gluten-free recipes to kickstart your way back to healthy habits.
  6. Long winter months make you extra hard on yourself? Maybe you gained a couple of pounds or could use a little sun – give yourself a break, it’s time to turn it around.

Regardless of what’s been bringing you down, a few simple lifestyle changes can really have a positive effect and help you shake those blues. Which one of these changes is first on your list this spring?
