I’m not much of a runner. I prefer bike rides in Central Park with my man or long walks around the city to get my workout in. And with spring starting tomorrow (lets hope the weather cooperates), it’s time to give myself a walking workout refresher and head out the door! Here are my tips for turning your walk into a real workout that can help you lose weight and keep your heart healthy. xo
How to Turn Walking into A Real Workout
- Choose a lightweight shoe that offers cushion and flexibility – traditional running shoes are too stiff and heavy for a walking workout
- Pick up a pedometer to track your steps and progress
- Try and head outdoors as much as possible, as factors like wind and terrain can help you burn more calories!
- Aim for a brisk pace – going to too slow can derail the benefits
- Stick to a plan! This walking workout from Fitness Magazine is designed to help you burn 1,300 calories a week and trim up those trouble areas
