Last night while watching the “Bethenny Ever After season finale, Bethenny mentioned something that my fans often ask advice about, which is “how do you balance your family and a career and how do you manage both?” I know so many young growing entrepreneurs that usually have this question in the back of their mind. They fall in love, they want to get married, have a family, but in the middle of it they also want to grow professionally and become successful entrepreneurs. At the end of the day, you will never be ready, there’s never that perfect day or perfect moment.
Life is filled with obstacles and full of surprises. I had my daughter Amber at a young age. I was just out of high school and I didn’t know how to raise a child because I was a child myself. My mother passed away when my daughter Amber was only seven months old. At the same time, we were just starting to get our company, Market America off the ground and I didn’t even have a car to get to work. My mother who was my number one support system was no longer there for me. So it was just me, my older sister Brandi and my two younger brothers Marc and Steve. I didn’t have much money and I didn’t have direction of where I was going.
All I knew is that I had a husband who was supportive, an idea that I believed in, passion, courage, determination, and belief. I didn’t have money for a babysitter but I knew I loved my husband and we had to work hard in order to become successful. Growing up as a young mother wasn’t easy, but it was well worth it. My life has been filled with obstacles, compromises, long work days, no sleep and many many challenges. One of the things that I learned throughout my adulthood is that the joy is in the journey and no matter what challenges or questions arise, you can and will figure it out. Life is a puzzle and slowly but surely it will come into place. Sit back, relax, work, and live with passion and enjoy the ride because it’s a beautiful one!
