6 Shopping Mistakes We All Make

Shopping Mistakes We All Make | Loren's World

For most women (like me!), shopping can be a fun way to treat yourself to something nice. But it doesn’t come without its pitfalls. We all sometimes find ourselves in a repetitive pattern, making the same mistakes and bulking up our closets with unnecessary items. Read on to see how you can stop making these shopping mistakes and start making some room in your closet for things you’ll really love and wear often.

6 Shopping Mistakes We All Make

  1. Buying the same thing in all colors – Or, buying the same styles over and over again. Either way, you’re only filling your closet with fewer choices and more clutter. Try different shapes, cuts, and colors rather than clinging to the same piece in different colors.
  2. Never taking a risk – We all get comfortable in a certain look at one point or another. Try taking a good, hard look at your wardrobe and see if it’s time for something new. You won’t lose anything by trying on a daring color or shape – and you’ll never know what you can really pull off unless you do. You’ll only get bored if you don’t take any risks.
  3. Not trying it on first – Buying an item directly off the rack without first taking time to try it on is a big mistake. You may be buying the wrong size or length but you won’t know it until you’re home. Try it on in the store, look at it in a mirror with different angles and see if you need to have anything taken in or out for the perfect fit.
  4. Not investing in classics – The thing with classics is that you’ll want them to last long enough in your wardrobe to earn that title. The only way to do that is to invest in those pieces rather than buying cheaply made fabrics that will give out after a couple of wears. Try spending a little more on a classic white blouse or that little black dress – they’ll stay with you forever and give you endless styling options, making them worth every dime.
  5. Spending too much on trends – Trends are so much fun to experiment with. But these are the items you can spend a little less on because they won’t stick around forever. Have fun with trendy pieces but don’t spend your wardrobe budget on them.
  6. Buying for the body we wish we had – Instead of the body we have now. Don’t torture yourself by filling your closet with items you keep saying you’ll wear someday when you finally shed those last ten pounds. Embrace your curves and show your body a little more love by buying things that fit you well now. You can always have those pieces tailored later on when you do lose the weight. But you’ll feel good in the process, which will help make you feel better about yourself overall – and that’s just priceless.
