Mother’s Day has come and gone and that means next on the list of family-friendly celebrations is Father’s Day. Celebrating Dad is such a good time both for your littles ones and your older kids. It’s really a great opportunity to get to spend some quality time with Dad, and let him dole out the fatherly advice. Whether he’s teaching your 13-year old son to throw the ball, showing your toddler how to put away his toys or having a heart-to-heart with your teen, Dads love passing along words of wisdom that they haven’t gotten from their own dads. Take a look below for some father to son advice perfect for passing along to your most special boys.
Work as hard as you possibly can. Hard workers make lasting impressions that leave me admiring and impressed with the level of integrity and dedication that’s shown. If you work hard, you get the privilege of playing hard – and that means, you’ll never feel bored.
Sometimes life just isn’t fair. Not everything is always going to go your way – and that’s OK, it’s part of learning to accept challenges and overcome tough times. Be accepting of that and don’t get discouraged – some things will come easier than others.
Take advice from wise people. When folks with lots of experience offer wisdom and advice – listen and be thoughtful about applying that advice to your own life. There’s a lot to be learned from those who have paved the way ahead of us.
If you make a mistake, admit it and then do your best to fix it. Mistakes happen. It’s part of life and part of growing up – what matters is how you deal with those mistakes and how you rectify the situation. Don’t just leave things hanging – solve the problem.
Be a steward to our planet. It’s your job to make sure our planet is here for the generation to follow – so do your part to take care of your surroundings and be respectful of where you call home.
Remember to be thankful for everything you have. Not everyone has everything they need and many people in this world suffer. Being thankful for everything you have – including family and friends – means you’ll never forget how everything in life is a special gift.
Be courageous. From getting on that bicycle when you’re super scared to taking the plunge into a new career, no matter how old you are, be brave and try new things.
Since today is Father’s Day, have you thought of any father to son advice that can be passed along to your own kids?
