The alarm clock sounds. It doesn’t matter because your eyes have been open all night while thoughts consume you in the dark. You contemplate whether you should get up but your body feels like the weight of lead. You decide to lay there a little while longer. You just do not have the energy to move. Your eyes remain glued the ceiling as a tiny tear reaches the corner of your eye. Your heart remains heavy and your will to keep going is fading. Does this sound like you?
The feeling of hopelessness is a dangerous place for any person to visit. Hopelessness is the sister to despair and the cousin of anguish. When these emotions are allowed to run rapid in our head, we open ourselves to deafening thoughts of negativity. These thoughts can become so extremely loud that we live in the voices of “I can’t,” “Why Me,” and “Why am I here?” In this place, we tend to believe that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. We believe that what we are going through will remain our plight for the rest of our lives. Our bodies become weak and our minds weary. Snap out of it! Sometimes we have to learn to stop fighting against the current and move with the flow.
Life’s motions have a distinct way of leading us to the exact place that we desire, if we would only stop fighting. Some events that happen to us are unexpected which may cause shakiness. However, your foundation is built in your strength, confidence, and self worth. Yes, some events seem like they are specifically created to break you, but yet you are still here. You may meet each day unsure of who you are but the blessing is that the strength you believed you didn’t have was just enough to get you through yesterday in order to see today. You are unbreakable. Your spirit is not one of defeat. Stop feeling lost. The truth of the matter is, you are exactly where you are meant to be, even if it is uncomfortable for you at the moment. Nothing happens by coincidence. Things will get better. Seasons change and so will the seasons in your life. Just know this, your are much closer to your change than you can see. Hold on. Know that you are strong. Your resiliency has got you this far. Be patient, change is just around the corner.
