When you sit down and really think about it, making charitable donations should be part of everyone’s life. Whether it’s time or money that you are donating, helping others is always a worthwhile cause. It seems overwhelming at first – especially if you’re on a tight budget where every penny really counts. But despite trying to stretch it all to cover our family’s necessities – even a couple of dollars each week can go a long way in making a difference for those less fortunate. If you’re budget is bigger and you have the luxury of being able to make regular donations, finding a charity worth donating to is essential for being sure your contributions are supporting causes close to your heart. But regardless the size of your budget, take a look at these charitable causes that may be worth considering for your next donation. See which ones speak to you.
.Charity Water – This one is as simple as it sounds – this non-profit organization’s mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
The National Partnership for Women & Families – Their mission: to speak up and speak out to fight for issues that help women and families in the workplace, through healthcare and even discrimination issues.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America – This organization affects us all, as they get right down to the community often in our own neighborhoods by providing after school care to help young people achieve their goals and become caring, responsible citizens.
Room to Grow – The mission is short but sweet, to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty through their critical first three years of development.
VDay – This organization has a big job ahead – to end violence against women and girls. This organization has taken on a major job, but they’ll do that by continuing to raise funds for anti-violence groups in small communities by hosting performances like The Vagina Monologues.
Direct Relief International – This organization provides global medical assistance to people who have been affected by poverty, natural disasters and civil unrest.
The Cancer Research Institute – It’s incredible, we all know someone or have been affected by cancer in some way. The Cancer Research Institute hopes to change that through cutting edge cancer immunology research.
Born This Way Foundation – Founded and operated by Lady Gaga and her mom, Cynthia, this organization works to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated.
ASPCA – For the animal lovers out there, helping to support the ASPCA is essential. Their mission is a big one: to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.
Those are some of my picks for charities worth donating to. With so many out there to choose from, what are some of your favorite non-profit organizations?
