10 Tips & Tricks for Saving Money

  1. Eat out two times less a month. Don’t cut it out completely if you don’t have to. That way, you won’t really miss it. Instead, cut out your restaurant habits twice a month and replace them with opportunities for making a fun meal at home.
  2. Brew your coffee at home instead of buying one at a shop. Even if you’re paying $.99 a day on coffee, it will add up over the course of several months or a year.
  3. Clean out your closet for items in great condition that you can sell to a consignment shop. Rather than updating your wardrobe and keeping your closet full of old items you no longer wear, go through your closet and set aside items you can get some profit from at a consignment shop.
  4. Use natural beauty remedies whenever possible. Need a facial or a hair mask? Try a home recipe using products you likely already have around. Your skin and hair will thank you.
  5. Give yourself a home manicure. Try giving yourself an update at home with a kit that will last you for countless manicures.
  6. Touch up your hair color at home. Need a touch-up between salon appointments? Try using a home coloring kit instead. It will save you time, transportation costs, and tip.
  7. Pack a lunch for work. Chances are, this will not only help you save money, but will keep you on a healthier diet, too.
  8. Quit smoking . Not only is it an unhealthy habit, it’s also a costly one.
  9. Have a yard sale. Get rid of gently worn and used items with a traditional yard sale. Or have a virtual one with an app like Yardsale. Be sure to save the profits for a big goal, like a vacation.
  10. Stash all your spare change. When paying with cash, only use folding bills and put away all your change in a jar. The money will add up quickly over the course of a year.

These are just a few tips to help you get started on the habit of saving. How do you save money? Got any favorite tricks? How do you reward yourself when you’ve met your goal?
