While we may claim that social media isn’t taking over our day-to-day lives, sometimes it’s pretty important to take a little time off from the smartphone or computer screen. The sun is shining, the summer air is fresh and there are so many friends to visit with, gardens to tend to and tans to be had, but – for many of us – the daily check-in with our favorite fashion bloggers comes first. While there’s no doubt that following a heap of tastemakers and fashionistas is fun and enriching – there’s a few signs out there to help set you straight (and will help you understand) how you know you’re following too many fashion bloggers. When your Instagram and Pinterest feeds are over run with shoe selfies and lattes with heart-shaped foam – that may just be the tipping point letting you know it’s time. Time to broaden your blogging horizons and take a look at some of the other cool stuff out there.
- Your head is still on the pillow – and before you even give your partner a good morning kiss – you’re checking out you Instagram feed.
- Same thing at night – you can’t sleep until you’ve seen every one of your fave bloggers #OOTD.
- You’re wondering why your cubicle desk isn’t a constant rotation of fresh flowers and perfectly styled paperclips.
- If you have to look at one more mirror selfie, there’s a good chance you might scream.
- Your Facebook feed is a food diary of juice and bowls full of chia seeds and berries. OH – and macaroons. SO many macaroons. .
- You start to feel like your wardrobe is totally inadequate – even on your best day. (you should feel inspired, not down and out!)
- You find yourself thinking that big splurge fashion pieces – like a Chloe bag or Chanel espadrilles – are totally reasonable expenses.
- You constantly look down at your shoes (even your gross old flip flops!) – and think you should snap a pic.
- You feel bad that your coffee table isn’t perfectly compartmentalized with inspiration books, a $100 candle and a perfectly styled cocktail.
- You’re thinking you should trade your big old Retriever in for a dog that fits in a bag.
- You wouldn’t dare put together an outfit without consulting 15 blogs first.
The truth is, there are so many great blogs out there – offering tons of resources to diversify your knowledge and learn something new. Even if fashion is your life, your favorite thing to do and brings you lots of joy, there’s something to be said for having a vast array of interests and hobbies. Have your blog interests started to become overly saturated with fashion info? What else do you find fun and interesting?
