6 All Natural Dry Skin Solutions

With that summer sun setting earlier each day and the cool days of fall coming in, there’s alot to get excited about (fall fashion, pumpkin everything), but that seasonal switch also does a number on our bodies – including skin. With cooler temps comes dry, itchy skin and finding a solution is essential. Even with an arsenal of lotions, creams and salves – sometimes going all natural is the way to go. Here’s a look at some natural solutions to dry skin that will leave even your best moisturizer in the dust.

Aloe – How about picking your moisturizer right off the plant? Adding an aloe plant to your kitchen is not only a fun, green addition, but it’s some of the best moisturizer out there. Traditionally used to heal burns and minor scrapes and cuts, aloe gel can be squeezed directly from the plant onto your extra dry patches of skin. The healing powers of aloe will do wonders for dry, cracked spots.

Olive Oil – Sounds a bit indulgent to use olive oil in exchange for moisturizer, but it actually works wonders. If you’ve ever noticed, olive oil is often an ingredient on lotions and moisturizing soaps, so why not go to the source and simply apply the olive oil directly to parched skin? Bonus: It’s also packed with antioxidants that can help prevent sun spots and wrinkles.

Coconut Oil – This natural oil is a wonder product, boasting a heap of nutritional benefits and incredibly moisturizing. Coconut oil can be applied directly to skin for super soft results – especially for dry hands and feet.

Honey – Ever thought about applying honey directly to skin? While this may sound a bit sticky, it’s incredibly moisturizing. Apply honey to dry skin spots and let it soak in for a few minutes. Rinse with warm water for soft, moisturized skin.

Olive Oil Scrub – If exfoliation is really where you need to start, use olive oil, sea salt and lemon juice to form a paste. This luxurious natural scrub will help slough off dry and dead skin, leaving behind smooth and soft skin. Remember to moisturize after you exfoliate!

Pumpkin Puree – This natural moisturizer is truly good enough to eat! Simply combine banana, yogurt, pumpkin seed butter and pumpkin puree – mix together to form a buttery mask. Spread on dry skin (this is great and gentle enough for your face), keeping it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse and you’ll have super soft, moisturized skin. Pumpkin is loaded with vitamin C & A, perfect for moisturizing and soothing.

Do you think you’ll add any of these natural remedies to your dry skin routine this fall and winter?
