We all have bad days. There’s no exception. Whatever your circumstance, chances are you’ve experienced the kind of day when you wish you could just go back to bed and pull the covers up over your head. But that doesn’t mean you can’t turn it around. As the saying goes, it’s never too late to start your day over again. Really! If you’re feeling a little hopeless and need a pick-me-up, here are some things to remember. Try these tips before deciding to call it a day and run for cover under the comforters.

How to Turn Your Day Around

Change your attitude – You get what you put out. That’s the truth of it. So if you’re putting out a vibe of frustration, anxiety, and worry, that’s exactly what you’ll get back. Take a second to readjust  your attitude about the situation at hand. Remember, you can’t change what happens to you, but you can change the way you react to it.

Take a break – Take a minute to restart your day. Pause for a minute or two, reflect on what’s going on, and decide that it stops here. You’ll be surprised how powerful that can be. That break in you day may really turn things around.

Show gratitude – Stop for a second and make a short list of things you’re grateful for. It can be anything from having had time for a good cup of coffee in the morning to having a supportive friend you can turn to. When you start focusing on the good things, they start to easily outweigh the bad. Here’s a link to the Gratitude Challenge to get you inspired.

Exercise – Something as simple as taking 30 minutes to go for a quick run will get your endorphins flowing and make you feel instantly better. Even just getting out into the fresh air will change your frame of mind. At the very least, it will help you work out your tension and anxiety.

Meditate – It doesn’t have to be a long meditation. Just ten minutes will do you a world of wonder. Sitting in peace and quiet can help you recharge and refocus, which is often a great catalyst for change in a bad day or otherwise. Here’s how to get started.

Let it go – When all else fails, choose to let it go. We all have bad days. Stop asking, “Why me?” and just realize that it’ll eventually pass. Nothing lasts forever, and that includes bad experiences. When you feel overwhelmed, just stop and realize that it won’t be permanent. Trust me.
