If you look around, there are a whole bunch of places in the U.S. you won’t believe actually exist. From natural wonders – like the Northern Lights, to National Parks – like Dry Tortugas, you can keep your feet right here and see things you never even imagined. Here’s a roundup of a few pretty cool spots right here in the U.S.A.
Devils Tower, Wyoming
This U.S. National Monument is 5,114 feet above sea level in the black hills of northeastern Wyoming. It’s considered sacred to local American Indian tribes and is one of the most popular rock climbing areas in the U.S.
Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida
Located about 70 miles west of Key West, this national park consists of small islands and open water. If you want to see this park, you’ll need a boat or seaplane to check out the coral reefs and crystal blue waters.
Antelope Canyon, Arizona
A slot canyon located on Navajo land, its name is defined as “the place where water runs through rocks.” The canyon was formed by flash flooding and erosion, creating a stunning sight.
Oneonta Gorge, Oregon
Located in the Columbia River Gorge, this spot is filled with ferns, moss and unique aquatic plants and wildlife. This spot looks like a fairy tale.
Skagit Valley Tulip Fields in Washington
Home to the annual Skagit Tulip festival, it’s one of the most popular destinations in Washington state. Acres of tulips bloom at once in April for a picturesque and colorful setting.
Northern Lights, Alaska
This incredible phenomenon is visible on occasion in the northern hemispheres. Alaska is a great spot for viewing the Northern Lights – you won’t believe your eyes.
