Thing To Do While ‘He’s’ Watching Sports

Just in case you haven’t heard, football season is in full swing. For many of us that means your man is obsessed with players, stats, teams, you name it (and chances are, you aren’t quite as hardcore).  And if he’s also into Fantasy Football Leagues – watch out. It’s all football, all season long. If you’re a big fan too – that’s great! You and your honey get loads of together time in the fall, but if you’re on the fence about sports or football just isn’t your thing, filling your weekends with fandom can be tough. Here’s a look at how to stick by his side and find a few things to do while he’s watching the game.

1. Get the basics down. While it may not be of any interest to you, knowing the basics of the game will at least take you from total boredom to having an idea of what’s going on. Knowing is half the battle, right? Rather than asking questions throughout the duration of the game, do a quick internet search as your questions arise. You’ll learn a little something, the time will pass – and, you never know – you might just get into it!

2. Get creative with snacks. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! And, a fun way to get excited about the game is to make weekend snack duty your mission. Go beyond the standard chips and dip and start thinking outside the box for game day food. When you’re in charge of the snacks, you may even be able to sneak a little something healthy in there.

3. Take up knitting. Looking for something to help distract you quietly, while the game is on? Knitting is the perfect solution. If you are headed to a buddy’s house to watch the game this weekend, your knitting project can slide right into your handbag and is the perfect task while you take in the game.

4. Save all your catalogs and magazine reading for Sundays. As catalogs and magazines arrive in the mail each week, create a little stockpile all for game time. Sitting down with a big pile of catalogs is such a fun thing to do – and it’s a quiet distraction, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

5. Spend some time catching up on your favorite blogs and scrolling your favorite social media sites like Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram. Didn’t have time during the work week to check out all your fave sites? If you’re only planning to “watch” the game to spend time with your man, he won’t mind a bit if you also have a chance to squeeze in some of your guilty pleasures. Who knows, you may even stumble on some good snacks for next weekend!

6. Head out with the girls! Haven’t had a chance to squeeze in your weekly mani pedi or need to pick up a few new items to add to your work wardrobe? If watching the game doesn’t interest you, why not spend some time on activities that don’t interest your man either? Staying independent and getting to do the things you each love, separately is just as important as spending time together.

How about you? Are you a big sports fan or is football Sunday just not your thing?
