From bringing attention to the stuff she just wants to making a stink about her outfit choices, there are a few things out there (guys take note!) that you just shouldn’t say to a woman. When she’s looking a little tired or has made a less-than-healthy selection for lunch – some things are just better left unsaid. If you’re wavering a little bit – here’s a quick guide of important no no’s with 7 things you should never say to a woman.
- You look really tired. Well….thanks a lot (and not in a good way) is the reaction you’re going to get for that one. Women really don’t want any attention brought to the days they just aren’t looking their best – so let it go. Maybe offer to buy her a coffee instead.
- Is that really what you’re wearing? There’s nothing like creating anxiety where there wasn’t any in the first place. You have no idea – she could have purchased that outfit specifically for this occasion or spent hours dumping out her closet to find the perfect look. In a nutshell: if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all.
- You have a really pretty face. While that may sound like a compliment to you, it’s probably going to be taken more like a backhanded dig at the rest of her. Maybe just go big – “you look gorgeous!” – rather than highlighting the fact that other areas beside her face may not be looking too good.
- How much do you weigh? Really???!?!?? Do you even want to go there with this one? Unspoken rule – no questions about weight or age.
- She’s hot. OK, this is kindof dating 101 – focus on the girl you’re with, not the one walking down the street. And, even if you’re “just friends” talking about another girls looks isn’t going to score any points.
- You are just like your mother. You’re walking a fine line with this one. In the case of looks – mom might be a total stunner – and in that case it could be a compliment. But if you’re talking personality traits – you may want to steer clear of this parallel all together.
- Calm down. This one can get you into trouble – and the reaction will probably be something you don’t even want to get into. Try being a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on – rest assured, you’ll get a much more positive reaction.
