I love having my long hair styled in my signature blow out. It feels great when my hair is shiny and healthy looking. It seems like you can always tell when someone’s hair is damaged and dry or, even worse, when your hair is damaged. I hate the sight of split ends and always make sure to be the first person in my stylist’s chair the second that I notice. You can’t treat split ends, so once they show up the best option is for is trim, which, if you’re like me and love your long hair, then a trim isn’t exactly the favored option. So what can we do? Prevent, prevent, prevent. We have to stay conscious of the ways that we treat our hair with these helpful tips.
Stay Away From Chemicals- You can either limit the amount of chemical products that you use in your hair or cut them out entirely. Maybe try waiting a few extra weeks before getting that root touch up. Any little bit helps.
Put Down The Hair Iron- Put down the hair iron or at least spray some heat protectant. The heat from your hair dryer and other styling tools are a major culprit to those split ends, so try to be more careful or wear your locks au natural more often. There are plenty of inexpensive heat protectants out there, so keep an eye out the next time you’re at the drug store.
Massage Your Scalp- Yes, kind of like how you would pet your dog. Massaging your scalp increases circulation for some healthier tresses.
Eat Well- They do say that you are what you eat, and that’s no exception when it comes to your hair. Eating right will reflect on the health of your head. So go to the supermarket right now and pick up some fruits, veggies, nuts, and fish. Your hair will thank you later.
