Life tends to feel just right the second your get a fresh manicure. You let out a sigh of relief when that coat of paint hits your nails and all your worries seem to go away. Well, that is until you wake up the morning after your manicure to find a chip. Your manicure is a mess and your whole life suddenly feels like it’s in shambles. What’s a girl to do? No worries, ladies. I’ve got some proven ways to keep your manicure lasting through the week!
The Vinegar Trick- Before heading to the manicurist, clear your nails of any leftover polish with some nail polish remover. Next, grab a cotton swab and dip it in vinegar (yes, like the household product). Vinegar removes any extra product that your acetone products cannot.
The Cuticles- When confronted with the dilemma to cut your cuticles, always ask your manicurist to push them back. Keeping polish off the cuticles is essential because they tend to lift the polish from the nail, which could be a cause of chipping, but cutting them could lead to infection, so stay away from cutting them!
Extra Top Coat- Days after a manicure, your topcoat tends to wear off, so in order to prevent chips, and keep your manicure fresh, be sure to add top coats throughout the week! Be sure to air dry rather than use a nail dryer. This simple trick also helps keep your nails fresher for longer. It sounds like a no brainer, but trust me, it works absolute wonders.
At Home Manicure- When giving yourself an at-home manicure, try to paint your tips with extra basecoat before painting your whole nail, as the tip tends to be the first to chip. Before adding your color, be sure to roll it between your hands rather than shake it. It reduces bubbles in the bottle and keeps your color looking clean.
