If you’re having some friends over to dinner or hosting a party, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, I’m going to outline some ways that you can become a great hostess while also joining in on the fun. Now, these aren’t exactly Emily Post’s rules so be sure to enjoy yourself. You don’t have to be stressed out when you have people over. It’s a party and you deserve to have a good time as well. Here are some ways to rock it as a hostess!
Create Excitement- How do you do this? Send out an invite to friends and get creative! Be creative with your wording; add images that everyone will appreciate. Make your event seem like the event of the year.
Don’t Be The Bartender- Like I said, you should have a good time. You don’t have to play bartender all night. It’s your house, but it’s not your job to stand behind the bar so set up a beverage station. People will know they can serve themselves.
Make Introductions- I love bringing different groups of friends together. It’s like a meeting of the minds and you get to tell people what’s up. When you know your friends have similar interests, mention it to get the conversations rolling. Introduce people in small groups rather than to the whole party in order to incite conversation.
Get The Party Started- When you notice a lull in the fun, come up with a cool game or a fun party idea. You don’t have to force anyone into playing anything so make sure it’s something people will want to partake. I have a friend who reads people’s tarots for fun so sometimes she brings her cards along. You can also play everyone’s favorite phone game, Heads Up. Play some music if the crowd doesn’t seem up for games. Come up with a party playlist beforehand to get things started.
