Have you ever known that type of woman whose strength precedes them? You know she’s coming from a mile away because she isn’t afraid to let the world know just what she’s after and how she’s going to get it. Maybe that’s you, maybe that’s your mom or even your grandma – it’s the Marissa Mayer’s and the Sheryl Sandberg’s…the Jennifer Lopez’s and the Julia Child’s – this list could go on forever. Regardless of who they are, powerful women know something about looking within themselves to find the strength they need. Around the globe and through decades of time, here’s a look at a few things strong and powerful women know – and you can use these tips too.
5 Things Strong & Powerful Women Know
1. It’s totally OK to be proud of yourself and your many accomplishments. We are often taught that as women, the polite response to compliments is to be shy and coy rather than proud and strong. But why? Why not be thrilled about your accomplishments and why not share those successes with the community around you? Go ahead, accept the compliments, be proud of your hard work and keep on trucking along.
2. You really can do anything you set your mind to – it’s not just a saying. I mean really…what’s stopping you? Ideas are born all the time, but it’s the people who turn their ideas into action who really achieve that success they’re after. It’s going to take work, but no accomplishment is really worth the reward unless you have to work to get there. You want something, go get it. No one is stopping you.
3. Spreading your good spirits is a much better option than bringing people down. Just because you find success and just because you’ve done it on your own definitely doesn’t mean you should bring people down along the way. You’ll be more respected and you’ll ultimately be more successful if you work to raise people up as you start to find and feel success. Share your happiness, share the great lessons you’ve learned along the way and most of all be a friend and listening ear to those around you.
4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This really should ring true for so many of us. In a world where looks and weight and what you have is so prevalent, the things that make you happy really are all that matters. You should look like you, be like you, dress like you – and do anything that makes you…..you. Ignoring the noise and pressures around you will help shape your success and keep you focused on your goals.
5. You don’t need anyone else to help you achieve your own success. You are about you – not your relationships – remember that the next time you’re feeling down and out about the romantic side of your life. Love will come to you when it’s supposed to, but you definitely don’t need love to reach your professional and personal goals. You want to become the top producer at your company? Go for it. You want to complete a marathon? Do it. You want another college degree? Go get it. All of these accomplishments – they’re on you.
