5 Interesting Facts About Women in Business

There are five interesting facts about women in business that many may not have knowledge of.  Women owned business are growing at an alarming rate.  Nearly 10.4 million businesses are owned by women (50% or more), employing more than 12.8 million people, and generating $1.9 trillion in sales.  These numbers are amazing!  The great thing is that the numbers will continue to rise within the next few years.

If you are considering going into business for yourself, you will be in good company.  The 10.4 million business that have been created by women is great proof that your dream of owning a business can become your reality.  You just need confidence, knowledge, and great people around you to assist with resources and know how.

Here are 5 interesting facts about women in business:

1. Three quarters of all women-owned businesses are majority owned by women (51% or more), for a total of 7.7 million businesses, employing more than 7.1 million people, and generating $1.1 trillion in sales.

2. Women-owned businesses, 50% or more owned by women, account for 41% of all privately held businesses.

3. Women business owners value technology as a means to create workplace flexibility, 61% use technology to integrate the responsibilities of work and home, while 44% use technology to enable employees to work off site or to have flexible work schedules.

4. Seventy-five percent of all businesses do not have employees; similarly, 81% of women-owned businesses are without employees, for a total of 5.4 million businesses.

5. More than 10 million companies are more than 50% owned by women in the United States, that’s equal to about 48% of all the privately held companies in the country.
