The American Music Awards broke records Sunday night, and I’m not surprised since my girl Jennifer Lopez hosted the whole soiree in Los Angeles. Throughout the night, she changed her look up a total of eleven (!) times and it has been quite difficult picking out which was my favorite.
She promised before the spectacular via Instagram, “It’s. About. To. Go. Down.” and she came through with a little help from Zuhair Murad, Michael Costello, DSquared2, Charbel Zoe, Julien McDonald, Balmain, Nicolas Jebran, and Versace. When it comes to fashion and beauty, J. Lo never let’s her audience down.
Behind-the-scenes, Jennifer had a fabulous glam squad courtesy of L’Oreal Paris that included Mary Phillips for makeup, Tom Bachik for nails, and Lorenzo Martin for hair. With so many holiday’ parties in our near future, I spoke to Lorenzo to get the details on my favorite hair look of the night, from her opening number to share with you.
You can score her flawless loose waves with four products— none of which retails for more than $15— in just four steps. It’s so simple; anyone can recreate the look at home ahead of any party in no time. Getting your hands on the tribal dance costume from DSquared2 won’t be as simple, but you’ll have a lot of extra time to look for a killer dupe after styling your hair via the steps below.
Jennifer Lopez: 2015 American Music Awards Opening Number
Step 1: Lorenzo washed Jennifer’s hair with L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Nutri-Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner ($4.99 each).
Step 2: He then applied L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Boost It Volume Inject Mousse ($4.99) throughout the hair and blow dried with a round brush.
Step 3: Using a 2-inch barrel iron, Lorenzo then curled hair to create loose waves throughout.
Step 4: He then tossed the hair around to loosen up the curl and applied L’Oreal Paris Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray ($14.99).
