We’ve been hearing so much about my girl Jennifer Lopez and her new role in Shades of Blue for a while now, so I’m thrilled to finally catch it when the drama premiers tonight at 10:00 p.m. EST on NBC!

In a recent interview with NBC News, Jennifer shared her thoughts on being an actress in her 40’s:
“Lopez plays a detective and single mother who is an FBI informant against her own unit. She says what she likes about the drama is that it’s very human. ‘People at their core are good but we do things that are questionable all the time, we make bad decisions and then we have to live with them.’ ”
In this video, Jennifer talks about Shades of Blue, her career after 40, and balancing family life:
Considering how often women are written off as viable leads because of their age, I’m proud to see Jennifer take on a role of authority, independence, and assertiveness. She’s always been a girl’s girl (Lopez was named the first ever UN Foundation Global Advocate for Girls and Women back in December) and now she gets to play homage to the role of single mother and crime-fighting cop in this NBC show.
Jennifer will also be taking on a new role as a Las Vegas performer at Planet Hollywood when her new show “All I Have” begins on January 20th. There’s just no stopping her. Truly, age is nothing but a number with this superstar.
Congratulations, Jen! I’m so proud of you! Love you tons. xoxo
