There’s nothing more heartbreaking than hearing about a young life that has been taken too soon. And, with the breaking headlines that country music singer Craig Strickland passed away during a hunting trip with his friend Chase Morland, our hearts goes out to the family and friends of these young lives. According to CNN, “Strickland, a 29-year-old vocalist in the country rock band Backroad Anthem, was duck hunting with his friend Chase Morland late last month at Oklahoma’s Kaw Lake as a fierce winter weather system was hitting central portions of the country.”

Ironically the young musician sent the following tweet before going missing for more than a week:
In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm

As it turns out, the storm was powerful, “Rain, sleet and snow pelted the area, with wind gusts of up to 45 mph and wind chills as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit.” Despite harrowing conditions, the two friends headed out with Craig’s dog, Sam and weren’t heard from again. It’s a sad day for friends, family and fans – and our hearts go out to all who are feeling their loss.
Today we lost our brother, our best friend, our bandmate. Craig was the most amazing person whose passion for life…
