Red Carpet events require that many of the stars wear a lot of makeup that will get them through photographs, eating, and lots of hugs and kisses. So they will be taking extra good care of skin to ensure it remains fabulous after they’ve hung up their couture gowns. Cate Blanchett is the epitome of flawless skin and as the SK-II Brand Ambassador, she only uses the best to keep her skin looking radiant. Celebrity makeup artist Jeanine Lobell gave us the lowdown on how she took care of Cate’s skin for the Golden Globe Awards.
“Cate was wearing a gorgeous, classic pink dress, so I wanted her beauty look to be pretty in pink with a big of an edge,” said Jeanine. “I prepped her skin to create a beautiful, dewy glow, and finished with a black, smoky eye.”
So how can you replicate Cate’s beauty routine? Jeanine breaks down what her favorite products are and how to use them.
To start, she prepped her skin with SK-II’s Facial Treatment Mask. She molded the cotton mask to the contours of Blanchett’s face for 15 minutes, leaving skin instantly hydrated. “We always use the masks while she’s getting her hair done, to get the skin plumped up, which allows for a much easier foundation application,” Jeanine shared.
She followed with Cate’s must-have product, the iconic Facial Treatment Essence, which was applied to moisturize and smooth skin. “I like to pat the Essence onto the skin gently with my hands,” said Lobell. “It makes skin look so fresh.”
Finally, to create the dewy, luminous glow, a spritz of the new Mid-Day Essence over the final makeup look completed the actress’ Golden Globes skincare regimen. “Right before Cate left, after makeup was done, I hit her with the Mid-Day Essence spray,” Lobell said. “You have to put on quite a bit of makeup to make it work for the next four hours, but the essence spray helps to keep it looking dewy and glowing.”
Even though Cate did not take home any awards, we’d unofficially like to honor her with the “Positively Radiant Skin” award. Flawless!
