Free Things to Do- If you’re a traveller on a budget, then listen up because I’m about to give away some of Madrid’s best kept secrets!

Head to Gran Vía- Head to Gran Vía for a peek at the incredible architecture all along the street. For the luxury traveler, checking out Gran Vía is a chance to dig into Spain’s upscale shopping market, but for the budget traveller, it’s all about relaxing to take in the sights. It’s considered the “Spanish Broadway,” so you know it’ll be a good experience any time of the day.

Check Out Madrid’s Egyptian Temple- Visit the Temple of Debod for a look at history. Given to Spain for helping preserve temples on the Nile in Egypt, this temple, on top of Parque del Oeste, is a great place to watch a sunset. It’s a very relaxing site. Plus, it’s totally free!

Take a Stroll Around El Rastro- On Sundays, follow the locals to the neighborhood of La Latina to take a look at all the goods at El Rastro, one of Spain’s biggest flea markets. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find a cool souvenir to take home to family.

For The Luxury Traveler- If you’re looking for an upscale Madrid experience, check out some of the sites I’ve listed below.

Platea Madrid- Not only does this restaurant boast one Michelin Stars, but rather six Stars from it’s many internationally renown chefs. You read that right. It’s a gastronomic experience beyond anything out there. It’s all about international cuisine, a cool ambience and a uniquely food court style. It’s like nothing else out there.

Stay at the Hotel Orfila- Near the north expanse of the Parque de Retrio sits Hotel Orfila, a classic luxury hotel that boasts 5 stars. It’s a charming space that Candé Nast Johansens named “One of the Best Hotels with European Charm.” If that doesn’t peak your interest in staying, I’m not sure what will!
