Post great, original content. You know what your fans like to see and read, so make sure you stick to the type of content that brought them to follow you in the first place. If you take a very personal approach to what you post and that’s been working for you – stick with it. If you’re successful posts are more informational, than stay on that path. No matter what type of content, the one defining factor is that it should be good and original. In a nutshell, be yourself!

Be sure to complete the “About You” section. Having a bio or professional profile even on Facebook is essential. People want to know about you and know who they’re talking to. Complete that section with a few keywords that describe what you’re all about, include a link to your website. The good news is, you can include almost anything you want, from a short bio to details about your career, where you’ve lived, life events – anything!

Use hashtags to find users who enjoy like-minded content. Hashtags are an easy way to take keywords and help people in the Facebook world find the content you’re posting. Let’s say you add a photo or video of your day at home during the blizzard. Including a hashtag like #Blizzard2016 will help get your content into the same feed as everyone else sharing similar stories and photos from the day. It’s a great way to find like-minded fans.

Be active. There’s nothing worse than a business Facebook page that’s completely stale and hasn’t been updated in months. If someone is going to follow, share and like your content, you have to provide great content on a regular basis. That means 1-2 times a day! Whatever you do, don’t let your page go dry.

Interact and engage. When you start to see your fans and followers sharing and liking your content, get excited – that means they’re engaging with it. When they start to add comments, that’s your chance to start and drive a conversation, which in turn – will keep them coming back for more. Rather than ignoring comments from your followers, offer a response and get a discussion going – it’s incredible how many people will start chiming in.

Re-share great content from other Facebook pages you follow and like. There’s nothing better than being part of a community – and even on Facebook that means doing your share to interact. By sharing great content from other pages you enjoy, you’re interactions will go up and you’ll potentially build a mutual connection.

Have you tried using any of these tactics to grow your Facebook fan base?
