Beauty Basics: How to Remove Glitter Makeup

With the release of our newest Motives Collaboration, Gem Sparkles by Aurora Gonzalez Bravo, I thought it would be a great time to go over this very important beauty basic: how to remove glitter makeup.  While it may sound simple enough, the challenge with glitter is that it has a tendency to stick, especially when paired with a glitter setting agent. The last thing you want to do is rub harshly and risk getting any of the glitter in your eyes or lose a few lashes. Which is why it’s just as important to understand how to properly remove it as it is to apply it. These are some very simple steps, but they’ll save you time and messiness. Read on for tips on how to remove glitter makeup in a snap.

BEAUTY BASICS: HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER MAKEUP

  1. Start with a gentle eye makeup remover. Don’t just reach for any wipe as it will not be moist enough to remove the adhesive. Instead, soak a cotton ball in a designated gentle eye makeup remover that is safe for contact lenses as well (this will ensure it is the safest on eyes).
  2. Set and hold on the eye. Once the cotton ball is properly soaked, set it gently on the eye and let it rest for approximately 30 seconds. If necessary, place a tissue underneath the eye to catch any liquid or residue.
  3. Gently wipe away. Once the cotton ball has been sitting on the eye lid for long enough, gently wipe it away. Repeat if necessary with a fresh bit of cotton and liquid. You should be good to go in about two or three swipes.

NOTE: Never press harshly or scratch your eye when removing makeup. Always be careful and gentle to protect your beautiful eyes and lashes.
