5 Reasons to Watch “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2”

5 Reasons to Watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2"| Loren's World

It’s been fourteen years since Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) rode off into the sunset with new hubby Ian Miller (John Corbett) in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” And today, we will find out what happened after the credits in the highly anticipated sequel “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.” Nia Vardalos has been on a non-stop media tour all over the world in support of the film. I had the chance to preview it recently and now you can run to see it in theaters too!

Many sequels tend to be somewhat disappointing due to various reasons but this one is different. Here are the top five reasons to run out and watch this movie immediately:

  1. The jokes are fresh– one of my biggest pet peeves with sequels is that the jokes from the original film are beaten to death. The writing is fresh and the jokes are either new or the characters will present them (or make fun of them!) in new ways throughout the film. I’m so glad Nia took a break before revisiting this film because this one is even funnier than the record-breaking first film. Who knew that was even possible?
  1. You learn a lot about all the characters you love– everyone is older but just as fabulous as before. There are even some pairings that might surprise you! You’ll also learn secrets about many of your favorites and you get to meet some new characters you won’t get enough of. Which leads me to…
  1. John Stamos is in this! Our favorite Greek hunk from the ‘90s is making a special appearance as the husband of Rita Wilson’s (also Greek) character. They are only guest stars but it’s great seeing them both making friends with the Portokalos clan.
  1. There’s a big wedding! So many people have asked me who the lucky couple is but I’m not telling. Suffice it to say that not everything goes as planned but it’s another big soiree with lots of music, fun, and family. Opa!
  1. There’s a set-up for a third installment– the first thing I thought of throughout this journey is how perfectly set-up this film is for another one. I think it would nicely wrap-up with a third having this story come full circle. Nia, please don’t make us wait another fourteen years to give us more of this beautiful story of unconditional love and family.

I wish I could tell you more about this wonderful film but I don’t want to ruin the big surprises. This is the perfect title to watch with your loved ones, friends, and even on a date. Go out and support it this weekend to help make this the highest (or second highest) grossing romantic comedy ever!

Oh, and don’t forget the Windex.
