We’re a few months into the New Year and your fitness goals may or may not be where you’d have liked them to be. If you’ve messed up along the way, it’s not too late to start again or pick up the pace.
I recently learned about WundaBar Pilates from celebrity trainer and founder Amy Jordan. Fans include Susan Sarandon, Vanessas Hudgens, Tia Mowry and Austin Butler. With locations in California and New York, you’re not too far from your first WundaBar experience.
“Simply put, WundaBar is Pilates, Reinvented,” Amy explained. “We initiate all movement from the inside out — literally starting with our bones to deliver results and target muscles you didn’t even know you have! My aim is to improve every WundaBody’s experience in their own skin. Do they look amazing on the outside? You bet, but the intention and impetus for everything we do is about the INSIDE. Feeling good, improving function and strength – the results we see on the outside are just gravy to how we feel on the inside.”
Unlike running and other high impact exercise, WundaBar is low impact, which is much better for your body. “Repetitive high impact exercises can cause long term damage to joints particularly if done without proper form and alignment. At WundaBar we intentionally keep the cardio effort HIGH without putting stress on the joints like knees, ankles, shoulders and hips. We aim to make every WundaBody feel better in their own skin — starting from the bones and joints outward. The work we do actually IMPROVES joint functionality rather than only avoiding damage.”
But will this class be enough for someone looking to lose weight? It’s best to combine different exercises to ensure you have a full body workout. “Many of our clients in LA combine WundaBar with hiking, or in LA and NYC they balance it with cycle classes a few times a week. Either create an excellent compliment of full body sculpting, cardio and lengthening work at WundaBar and fun (but not necessarily toning) work on days between.
Can anyone of any size take this class? Is it only for women? “We designed the WundaFormers to work with all shapes and sizes, from petite women 5′ tall to men at 6’5″ tall! We welcome all clients to the studio wherever they are in their fitness journey and look forward to giving them a better experience in their own skin while they reach their wellness goals.”
Not only are you helping yourself feel better with each class, but you’re also helping an important charity earn money. “Each WundaBar Pilates studio selects a meaningful local charity that we donate 100% of the $10 from ALL first classes to. In NYC it’s The Robin Hood Foundation, in LA it’s Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, several school foundations and down south it’s the Center for Children in San Diego. Come in, feel good and do good! We’ll see you there.”
