A leader is someone that is looked upon for guidance, whether it’s the CEO of a fortune 500 company, the head coach of a pro sports team, or the matriarch of one’s family. There are many leaders in this world but few that stand out above all others and if you analyze any truly great leader, you will see three characteristics among them all: great leaders motivate, appreciate and communicate. Are you a great leader?
1. Motivate. The number one thing people want from a great leader is to feel motivated and inspired. A great leader is filled with passion, charisma, and a belief system that spills over into those who follow them.
2. Appreciate. Great leaders are supportive and show appreciation for the people on their team, their followers, their fans. Please and thank you go a long way when showing your appreciation for those who look up to you and work hard for you each day.
3. Communicate. Great leaders are fantastic communicators. Leaders can clearly communicate ideas and talk with people, not at them. Leaders can give and take constructive criticism and can effectively communicate what needs to be done. Great leaders also have a knack for networking because of their ability to put the right people in touch with one another – great communication builds relationships and networks.
